well, i've never written "dear diary" because that sounds too corny, but i have kept a journal for around three years, i guess, and it did help me out at that time because i was feeling very down and i didn't have an outlet. it started because my professor in creative writing made us write journals as an assignment. i didn't think i'd enjoy it but i ended up pouring all my emotions on it. although i have stopped writing in my journal, i did start a blog a while back, which is pretty much the same as a journal or diary, except that people can read it. so far i am enjoying it, my blog is more organized than my journal though, because i just jot down stuff in my journal while i have to edit and re-edit my blog so it doesn't look like a mess.

I kept one religiously, filling it in every day for years from about the age of 12/13 to the age of 20 or so. I used to buy those page a day diaries and fill them in. I never put 'dear diary', I just used it as a place to vent my feelings. I didn't go into minute detail of all the boring stuff I had done that day or anything like that. It was a good way to clear my head if something was bothering me, or to write about something really exciting that was going on (usually to do with boys!).

I stopped eventually after finding I was filling it in less and less, and there would be huge gaps between entries, and after a while I never bothered to buy a new one. I remember in one I used to keep the most embarrassing records of boys I had kissed, stuff like that. I actually threw most of them away because I was so afraid my husband would find them and read them - as if he would ever do that! I know he would never read my private stuff. I have always regretted throwing them away, because now all those memories and records of those years of my life are gone.

I have kept a journal since about the age of 12. I find it helps to process the events of my life, and my feelings. It also helps me see how I have changed, or what are the same struggles I keep having in my life. I don't "dear diary," but I just sort of free flow with whatever thoughts or feelings. If you are stuck sometimes it helps to just start with what you did a certain day.

Yeah, I've kept a diary for a long time, ever since I was a little kid. I don't normally write "dear diary" but I do write what I've done or thought and how I felt about it. Yeah, it does help.

It helps so much. Sometimes, I can't get the courage to tell someone something, so it's like talking to a dog. Diaries can't reply. So there's good for the heart! yeah, I say "Dear Diary,..." You're never too old for a diary. xd anyway...it helps a lot

I used to do that when I was 15, but stopped when I was 19. I just filled in the events of the day in a spiral notebook, noting the date & year. When I filled up one book, I started another. Unfortunately, they got distroyed by mold, so I no longer have them. It's too bad too, 'cause I had some great stories in there. And yes, I put EVERYTHING in there. That was the one place where I could be honest about all my feelings. It helped me sort through some very tough times, especially when my mom got cancer when I was 16. I have a prayer journal now, where I write down prayer requests, mine as well as others, and the date. When they're answered, I write it down with the date it was answered. It helps me see that God works out everything, in His time, and that me worrying about it doesn't help at all. If it helps you, keep doing it. Keep it safe & dry. When you're as old as I am, you'll enjoy looking back at it. <*)))><

I have a day planner type thing with two days per page. Every night I jot down what I did and then maybe some extra feeligns along side it if they were really important. I tried doing the whole extended "Dear diary" thing but I'd get sick of it after a week. This works out much better.

It's more like a notebook that I just write in whenever I need to. I have had one since I was 8 years old and it is always a big help to write down whatever's going on and then sometimes go back and read whats gone on and what I was feeling at different points in my life. I'm pretty hilarious, so sometimes when I need a good laugh that's what I read.
