I've had 3 cars repainted at Maaco, and I had a small prob on one of them. IOt was fixed quickley and the paint looked superior to the factory paint.
Plus, Maaco has many levels of 'paint jobs' with various qualities of paint and clearcoats.

If you want to paint it to just sell it, Maaco. If you want to repaint it just to drive it so you look better, better things to invest your money in. You'll never recoupe it. If wanting to paint it so its real nice, show car, or something similar then a basic quality job from a guy on the side I would guess about $2500 up to a good body shop could be $9500 and still higher.

Quality is key word, it changes at every level of pricing when it comes to painting a car.

I work for a body shop, and it depends on how good you want it to be first of all. Maaco would work because they will just quote you a price without looking at the vehicle. Any good body shop is going to look at it for rust, damage, etc. You shouold probably call around and ask different body shops, letting them know in advance that you're not looking for anything fancy. That way they can use cheaper paint, take less precautions, give no warranty, etc.

Krylon paint from the local hardware store. ;)

Seriously, though, don't go to any shop that quotes you a price without really looking the car over. Anything under $2,000 probably isn't going to be worth it, and a decent-quality driver paint job will run you $3-6,000. But, in the end, it's whatever you decide.

I'd check with your local GM/Pontiac or hotrod club. There's got to be someone who can recommend a good painter there.

Maaco is inexpensive yet I assure it truly is going to commence to peel after about 6 months. Many many horror memories about them on quite a few forums. reliable and cheap do not go jointly even as it is composed of paint. Prep artwork is so significant and that prices money.

Years ago there was a fellow who claimed to paint any car for $99.

I saw of few of his jobs... you'd swear he used a brush.
