We must look like a bunch of retards on this forum. There are alot of posts on this site, that is either inaccurate or just plain fiction. So my question to you is how do you think people from other countries view us. I know I am going to get alot of ignorant posts which will just back up my claims, so send them.

Wow and there are the first two. So we aren't stupid we are just uninformed. Way to make a point.

And check out some of this spelling. Good thing we don't have illegals to worry about butchering the language.

I love all this feedback, as most of it is just proving my case.

Most Americans are not that stupid, they just don't know how to say things so that people will understand what they are trying to get across. You are exactly right, there is a lot of stuff said that is inaccurate, misquoted or is just plain fiction. You made a valid point. I bet people from other countries do get a good laugh because of the way Americans act sometimes.

I'm from Canada and I spent 2 years going to university in Louisiana - infact I left just after Hurricane Katrina.

I went down expecting Americans to be simple and undereducated, but that's not really the case. Sure I laugh at the Yahoo! forums when you guys fight over Libs/Cons/GOP/Democrat etc but thats not the point. In real life, Americans are fairly nice people, perhaps a LITTLE undereducated about worldly events. For my English Essay class I wrote a paper on Canada in World War 2, it ended up getting published in the University newspaper since it had been such an eyeopener to the people in my class.

While I was there, watching Katrina rip apart the place I had called home for 2 years - I saw the true American spirit of cooperation (for the most part) between the people who spent time rebuilding. I will say that - Americans above most others have a great sense of respect and aren't afraid to lend a helping hand to their fellow Americans. Be proud of that.

Spend some time reading, use the "Random Page" function on Wikipedia, or whatever - other than that I think Americans are just normal people with a government who needs a serious *** kicking.

I am going to agree with you on your statement that there are alot of posts on this site as well as other sites that are just ignorant statements and/or questions.

But I would also like to say I don't think the majority of Americans are stupid, they are unfortunately blind to the world around them. Alot of the posts I have seen and responded to have been just posts of hatred and anger. Look at the post from Todd that to me was a threat to the president. I believe there are ignorant people writing ignorant things however i think there are alot of people on this site that do have a good head on their shoulders.

Good Question though.

If you assumed (***-U-Me) that the answers would be ignorant, why pose the question? Since you obviously consider yourself (and you may be) smarter than the people who will respond, what is your point? An intelligent person, seeking true knowledge, would not seek out ignorant people as a resource.

But, to answer your question. People in other countries see us in myriad ways. Those who follow hysterical ideologes that hate America, see us as the Infidel. People who have had good experience with America or Americans see us in that light. Thinking people all over the world see us as thinking people here see them. As individual human beings subject to the litany of human frailties.

You see...as I have stated before (yes I am reusing my post from another question because it fits so well) There is a distinct difference between stupid and ignorant...stupid can't be fixed, ignorance can be fixed with education. Give the basic level of education in the US, you should just be happy that most of us can drop from our trees long enough to play on the typee box.

Rarely is a youngster born dull. The means stupidity is announced into society is through instructing. The first lesson a youngster gets is, "Obey authority or face punishment." (It makes no change whether or not the authority is proper or incorrect, or honest, or ethical). In time the youngster will both insurgent and endure punishment or loss of life, or emerge as an obedient slave asking permission for the whole lot he does and believing NOTHING besides what the professionals inform him. This is referred to as schooling. Those who live to tell the tale with their natural feel (and honesty) intact name this indoctrination.

Hello, there! I'm Diana from Egypt. I've been to the States twice, and, believe me, I love your country. But, I've noticed that the people there are a bit too shallow, no matter what level of education they have. They seem to focus on themselves and things they are dealing with NOW. That makes them ignorant when it comes to other subjects.

Most smart, well read, and educated people have jobs.
Did you ever read some of the popular blogs out there,
or hear comments from actors in Hollywood. Other counties must love that inane stuff.

That's a hard question. I'd say someone is an idiot and they'd say I'm one. But there are a ton of ignorant people out there, but there are tons of ignorant people everywhere. Most Americans seem to be blissfully ignorant though, IMHO

Keep in mind most people who use this site are young adults or teenagers who for the most part lack the maturity of adults.

Probably very similar on the foreign websites too.
