Usually around the second trimester but if you are fair skinned you may not get it. It is caused by an increase in the pigment melanin in your skin (the primary determenent in skin color, which is where melanoma, skin cancer, comes from) the more melanin the darker your color so with less melanin there is less of a chance for you to get a linea nigra. It's ok if you don't get one. It is caused by the pregnancy hormone HCG but that doesn't mean that if you don't get one you don't have enough of the hormone or anything like that. It depends only on the melanin in your skin. Hope this helps

The line that you are talking about is called the Linea Nigra, or darkening of line from navel to pubis. (Belly button to top of pubic bone)This can occur in some pregnancies, at or around the 4th or 5th month. Not everyone gets this though. It is estiomated only about 15% of women get this during pregnany. I didnt get it during my first pregnancy, but i had a faint line during my second pregnancy.
The line is more noticable in darker skinned women, and harder to notice in light skinned women. If you do get this pregnancy line, it should clear up in a few weeks after deliverary.
Some other reasons a women may get this line is a hormonal inmablance. Taking a daily vitamin should help.

I started to get mine, though very faintly, around 2 1/2 months. It got steadily darker over time. However not everyone gets it - and it is more prominent in dark skinned women.
good luck!

I think mine appeared around 6 months or so. It went away after all of the pregnancies. It's just hormones.
