Shakira or Eminem, he is not only a good singer, he is a very talented songwriter! That's just my opinion though.

I've read that many experts think Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who was a Pakistani pop star, was the "best" singer on Earth. I'm not sure what the rationale was or how that's judged. Anyway I don't understand his language but I do like his sound.
To connect to one of the other answers, I believe he did a song with Eddie Vedder on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack. He's also on Peter Gabriel's last release and some other "Western" collaborations.

even though I am the biggest Beatles fan in the world, I am going to have to say Freddie Mercury. I always said if I could be blessed with someone elses voice with which I could become famous, they would be his vocal chords. The man could sing dood.

such a controversial question! some people are heavy rockers and some people are sappy love song people. i like either classic rock or light rock. like the beatles, queen, and stuff like that, but i also like kelly clarkson.
