The StairMaster CAN be a part of a good cardio workout, but I don't think it usually qualifies as one in itself. For something to be classified as "cardio" it really has to increase your heartrate significantly. Good examples of cardio are dancing and running. So, it really depends on the intensity of your StairMaster workout and your own fitness level. It wouldn't really be a good cardio workout for me, but it may be for others.
