i think they are definitely the best team in the nl right now. after finishing a 10 game road trip 9-1, they are going to keep the momentum going as they head home. their next series is against the orioles and they should take at least two out of 3 from them, if not sweep them. they will probably then be tied or ahead of detroit for the best record in the league. i personally think they are better than the tigers. they have more experienced players, young talent, veteran talent, very good player leadership, and a great coaching staff. they keep winning and they have fun doing it. i think the cardinals are the next best team in the NL. as said by someone before me, even without pujols they are holding their ground in the NL central, and they have some very underrated players like rolen and edmonds. (Thanks to whoever stated that before me.) BUT, i think it will come down to the nlcs between the mets and cards, and the mets do have a better bullpen, and their batters are all very clutch. i can see the mets and the white sox in the world series this year, and the mets winning it closely in 7. possibly a repeat of 1986. we'll just have to wait and see!

I think that the Mets are the best in the NL, slightly better than the Cards (even more so w/o Albert). Hard to say the best in MLB because the AL is still much stronger overall, so it is hard to compare.
But I would like to say to the people saying the Yanks are better than the Mets, if that is so, why were the Yanks so close to being swept by the Mets last month?

Best team in the NL? Probably.
Best team in MLB? No. Both the Tigers and White Sox are better.

Best in the NL, yes.
overall?
Look at The Tigers & White Sox.
The Tigers have the most wins in both leagues with 43.
Oh yeah, the yankees? please....they are no where near the level of Detroit or The Mets...not even close.

This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days: Yankees A-rod nonetheless hits 40 5+ HRs and one hundred thirty+ RBIs a three hundred and sixty 5 days so his production very almost unmarried handedly beat Reyes and Wright. Jeter is likewise an outstanding participant that willpersistent in on the brink of one hundred RBIs. yet they are getting previous, and 2, 3 years down the line Wright will grow to be the most acceptable NL participant and Reyes will a great deal income from that. i wager the merely different left aspect which could be pronounced with those 2 is in Colorado. Rockies- Tulowitzki and Atkins playstation : To Dana: Youkilis performs 1B, he's only a 3B even as Mike Lowell recovers. and regardless of him i visit't evaluate that an outstanding pair. Youkilis is reliable and an outstanding fielder, yet how are you going to study Lowrie to Reyes and Jeter? He has the aptitude to be a competent participant, yet I doubt he will be Reyes/ Jeter reliable.

I agree that the Mets are good... they have Hernandez and Martinez and an awesome bullpen... Beltran is always a threat... but dont forget about St. Louis. With Pujols on the DL, they have still kept their grasp on first place in the Central. They have a lot of underrated players (Rolen, Edmonds)... not to mention Carpenter still being pretty strong this year. It may come down to the Mets and Cards in the NLCS.

No St. Louis has a better team but the Mets are playing very well. The Mets may very well go to the World Series.
