He probably will never take a bottle. babies introduced to a bottle after 4 months, usually wont ever take it. Try a sippy cup, he's ready for it.

My suggestion is to use as wide a nipple as you can. Most commercially produced nipples are very small and it won't feel like your breast to him. Don't worry, though, when they get hungry enough they'll feed off the bottle. Just make sure the formula you use is Iron fortified and bottle feeding won't be much of a problem. Another thought is for you to expell your milk and try rubbing some around the bottle nipple. That might encourage him to suck more. It took me a while to get my son to transition between both easily, so don't give up!

I'm not clear on the question... Are you saying it's easier to buy bottles and nipples, sterilize them, buy a breast pump, learn how to use it, spend 20 minutes at two different times pumping, clean the pump, store the milk safely until you need it, pack ice, bring a bottle with you when you go out, find a way to heat the bottle, buy *more* bottles and nipples because he doesn't like the ones you already have and repeat all of the above (maybe 3-4 times) than to pull up your shirt?!

I had the same problem with my 2 month old. I would try to give her the bottle. she would start to cry and scream but she would eventually get the bottle. The first time that I tried given her a bottle she had screamed for twenty minutes. I did feel really bad about it but sometimes you just have too let them cry. It took her about two weeks to get the bottle with out crying. So what you can do is start trying to give your baby the bottle let your baby cry. At least try to give your baby a bottle a day that way your baby knows that its ok to take the bottle. good luck

You might want to try out some different nipples. One of my babies absolutely refused a bottle but started drinking from a sippy cup while we were out to dinner or at church or something when she was around 6 months old. She nursed for a year but it was so nice not to have the extra work of weaning her from a bottle as well.

Avent nipples are pretty good. They are the only bottles my kids would take. However, it is unlikely that your baby will want a bottle from you if you typically breastfeed. It's fine to nurse in public - or you could try having someone else give him the bottle.

I would strongly suggest you keep trying the bottle. Put your breast milk in it to get that baby used to a bottle nipple. Otherwise, you will have your hands full. If he still won't take it, I would wait until he is ready for a feeding. If he is really hungry, he will take it. Don't give in to him... this is only the beginning!!!!! Let him know who the real boss is! :-) Good luck!

If you must give him a bottle, it is best for someone other than yourself to do it. From you, he knows he must breastfeed. I always encourage parents to make sure, Dad, Grandma, Auntie or someone else to give a bottle.

As far as the blanket, my daughter hated it too. There are many ways to breastfeed discreetly. Personally, I didn't care. If someone did not like seeing my nurse my baby, they should be the one to leave. It is natural and the intended way to nourish a baby.

how old is the baby? Did you put breast milk in the bottle? If the baby is hungry then they will probably drink the breast milk out of the bottle. It takes different muscles to drink from a bottle than a breast, so if the baby is older it will have to learn how to suck from a bottle. Time and patients is all you need.

Neither of mine took the bottle, but would take expressed breast milk from a sippy cup when I went out. Really, just breastfeed in public. If someone doesn't like it, it is their problem not yours. Breastfeeding is the best thing you can do for your baby.

i found that nuk nuk makes a nipple that flattens out and seams more like a natural feel for new babies. i also think you should use the linner filled bottles. make sure you hold the baby as you normaly would while feeding. it might take a few ruff tries till the baby acepts this new form of feeding.
this is all just my personal oppions on how i handled it when i had the same issues. best of luck.
