Unfortunately, people do not like to hear things that contradict their own beliefs because it makes them uncomfortable, so they choose to form false opinions of others based on what people who believe the same things they do say. It is simply to much to ask people to be informed about themselves and the things they are against.

Personal religion- a means for an individual to cope with and explain the mysteries of the universe.
Organized religion- a means to control people.
For personal religion, you really don't need any facts, because it is based on YOUR PERSONAL OPINION. You only need believe in it yourself. It is your personal belief system.
For organized religion- you do need facts, because convincing large groups of people of a belief system requires a lot more energy and time to recruit members and maintain the fiscal health and reputation of the organized religion. If there are no facts, you can make them up and hope that people have "FAITH".
The trouble is, most people turn organized religion into personal religion. They have no full knowledge of the facts presented by the organized religion, but are chock full of their own personal opinion.
Solution- BE A FREAKING INDIVIDUAL AND QUIT DEFENDING RELIGIONS THAT YOU DO NOT WHOLLY BELIEVE IN!

Doesn't it seem like that sometimes? I mean, you are right. There are so many different and complex religions in this world, it's insane. I'm a Christian. I learn from the Bible, and what my Pastors have to say. I don't listen to others. People's opinions, although hardly ever wanted, are explained in a criticizing way. People make fun of other religions, or people say that their religion is the "right" one.... what is up with that? I understand and accept that their are other religions in this world, but in the end, we are all just human, and we still all make mistakes.

Thats because most people can only speak up to the experience in life, they can only speak on what they have been through so its hard for someone to see your point if they haven't lived through a similar situation. SO that causes the Argument- Miscommunication and assumptions they are the culprits. They speak about what they think and not what they know and whats funny about that is that God says in the bible:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who giveth liberally to all men" James 1
If people were informed by the word of God and actually willing to listen to others who may or may not be and Vice Versa, if they would actually listen instead of just waiting for their turn to speak a lot more differences of opinion could be resolved without Argument.
So really there is no reason not to know the information to back up any question or argument because its all in the Bible!

Good question. One thing I know about people is that no matter what they are thinking they can convince themselves that they are right. And when it comes to religion one big way to back upwhat you believe is by saying it is because of faith or what you believe. I am a christian and I believe many things by faith but I would never argue any of those things on just faith alone.
Another reason to your answer is that people tend to be.... lazy. Many would rather believe something rather then work (study) to understand why they should believe that way.
There is no good answer but my advise to you is to be better then that! :)

i think I argue about religion from all sides, but I do use Christaity the most, because i grew up with it, but I would agree, the whole Dan Brown DaVinci thing, Christains keep saying the bible is first hand knowledge, and is fact, also it was recorded by the people who spoke it, Oh and my favorite thing they said is the gnostic gospels are false, other religions are false, because they was using the Davinci Code to show a connection, and John the baptist followed Jesus, and Jesus did not follow him, know to my knowledge the only one who could write the bible died right after his betrayal of Jesus, because he was a scholar, who cares if jesus followed or was followed, and you would think there would be a connection, so I agree
