no longer quite, i love distinctive the remakes significantly better than the originals, and frequently remakes are merely paying respects to the unique. Im a huge fan of comedian e book video clips, no matter if or not they are not that surprising. yet there have been some that were particularly reliable. maximum reliable, unique options are underrated because of Critics who thinks their reviews are th end all be all. no longer in reality that maximum unique video clips are drowned by ability of the idea of a remake. No usa for previous adult men ins't a remake... and that i savor remakes of older sci-fi video clips with undesirable props... thats merely lame. Older Drama video clips are wonderful the way they are. i does no longer replace To Kill a Mocking fowl, or The grapes of Wrath if the wanted to. now and again its reliable to modernize video clips to ascertain the way it would portray to an audeince of proper this second. TKaMB will be a large action picture in the adventure that they could get the right actors to remake it, if no longer do not difficulty. one element that annoys me about Remakes is the Script ameliorations... replace the CGI the actors, perchance some Set issues, yet no longer the script, writing is one element which will continuously stay reliable. EDIT (the recent X-adult men is the Wolverine ORIGINS movie, it really is significant to the unique action pictures. so that they have a reason behind that. what's the point of transforming into a narrative arc in the adventure that they are unlikely to end it. And maximum comics have numerous variations, and villains. It takes a lengthy time period to include the full tale line of one superhero, and his situation. that's the reason there are such distinctive of them. Its merely to undesirable they could't save up with the reliable scripts)

OK there are maybe one or 2 remakes which are better than the originals (Dune by David Lynch- Dune by the Sci-fi Channel being a good example), some even have a new twist (The Island-Logans Run being an example), but in general why remake a classic? I would say that of all the remakes I have seen 90% of them should have good straigt to video!!!!!!!

There are no new ideas, that's the main problem. The second problem is people love those old stories and more importantly, will pay the bucks to see them no matter how crappy they are. No one wants to take a chance on something new.
You simply have to look at The Matrix to see what new ideas and fresh concepts do. Hollywood is a business and nothing sells like success. They figure if Rocky worked once it'll work 10 times. Why do something new when the same old stuff still works.

Yes, very tired of this. Like the remake of the Omen. I refuse to pay money to see it. I know it is not as good as the original with a real actor, Gregory Peck. Hollywood thinks that they can just slap some stuff together and we'll pay ten bucks a head to go and see it. It is all about writers. Where are the talented, creative, imaginative writer's of today? Can someone put out a movie that we haven't seen already?

Got to admit - although I watch the remakes and think that a couple of them are good, I already know what's going to happen with alot of them, there seems to be a trend at the moment of alot of remakes, - King Kong for example, we all know what fate would bestow him, yes the special effects etc. are great, but much prefer an original story that I can become engrossed in and not know what to expect, a movie is not all about special effects.

Yes, and so are a lot of people.
That's why, when every other country in the world is reporting ever increasing box office sales, America is reporting falling audience numbers and some really big studios are even considering doing straight-to-video films.
They need to stop plundering while any Americans still know how to make films or it'll be bye-bye Hollywood!
EDIT: I notice no one is really defending remakes, so who the hell is watching them and it making it worth the studios while making them?!?

The modern versions are always pale imitations compared to the originals.
For example...Alfie with Jude Law - Michael Caine rules.
The Lady Killers with Tom Hanks - Alec Guiness was brilliant.
Oceans Eleven with George Clooney - Pleeease, it comes nowhere close to the original.

There are 3 or 4 versions of "Love Affair/An Affair to Remember" and something good can be said of each.
"Sabrina" is a great movie, and I like the older one better than the remake.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," was a big disappointment (even with Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka), because I was expecting it to be so much more like "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" with Gene Wilder.

Movies these days really suck. I have yet to find a real good horror film that scares my socks off. They're taking all the good older movies and remaking them so they'll finally have a smash hit.

The problem seems to exist in the US fim industry in particular. The rise and easy access to quality Asian and Bollywood films nowadays seems to be driving the Ennglish language film industry to stick with what they know best- classic fims that they know younger people are interested in seeing but don't want to watch old and seemingly creaky films. But the saying goes "You can only put so much glitter to the glass" and people are growing bored.
