I used to work for Estee Lauder so I know exactly what you are talking about. Yes, just put a few small drops of moisturizer in your foundation and it will thin it out nicely. I do this a lot in the summer when i don't want a real heavy coverage. it really works...but stay away from mixing water into your foundation...too runny.

I use EL Double Wear as well and also find it a bit thick. A makeup artist for Estee Lauder showed me how to mix a little bit of their Spotlight product in with the foundation to dilute the consistency a bit, which works really well for me. As I don't have any of that product right now, I have been mixing a little bit of my moisturizer in with the foundation, which works equally as well. In fact, it's such a heavy foundation that I can almost go half & half. I hope this helps. P.S. The foundation still seems to wear as well as it does without mixing in the moisturizer. I don't have any experience adding water to it. Also, I add the moisturizer to a little dab of the foundation in the palm of my hand, not in the bottle.

As your ready to apply your makeup run your sponge under the water fosset not at full force only a couple of drops per second then put your foundation on the sponge.Dont try to add water directly to the foundation it will lose its stability. Your foundation should always appear to be like satin on your face and never too heavy. Maybe you should consider a new foundation with a water base so your face will feel lighter. I recommend using moisturizer or even breathable sun block SPF 45 from neutrogena it costs about 9 dollars at your local drug store this is what I us even on days I wear no makeup. Good Luck I hope you find what works for you

Double wear is meant to be long lasting and is a medium-full coverage. If you don't want such coverage you should try a different EL foundation. If you absolutely love double wear and love how long it lasts you should put a primer in your foundation! Primer is usually put on your face before your foundation to smooth out your skin and prep it for make up but if you put it in your foundation as well it will ensure it is still long lasting...but not as heavy. Moisturizer may effect the foundations "staying" power! If you are going to use a moisturizer in it at least make sure its a gel moisturizer not a lotion!

If you have the time, I like to steam my face...sounds weird. Like, put a warm wash cloth on your face before you apply anything. For some reason, every time I do this, the foundation stays on longer. Maybe you could thin out the foundation by mixing it with another foundation that's a little thinner.

Who knows...most foundations are water-based, so you probably could add a little water with no problems.

I have used moisturizer mixed with foundation, I usually add a little at a time until I get the right consistency (not sure I spelled that right). I hope this helps you. Good Luck. : )

Moisturizer is better than water. It all depends on whether the foundation that you are using is water based or oil based.

I don't think you should do that you might mess up the make up if u want a light make up foundation buy the pure makeup from maybeline it's nice and light and it's 50 % water.

Adding water would lessen how long it lasts! However moisturizer will allow your makeup to be applied more evenly, it will last longer, and if it is non-comedogenic (oil free), it will help prevent breakouts!
