If you suffer from chronic depression I would suggest you consult with your physician. Depression is serious but it doesn't mean that you are crazy it means you suffer from a chemical imbalance. It's nothing to be ashamed of and it's nothing that you brought on yourself. Please see you doctor as soon as you can. Once everything gets evened out you will feel good again. Good Luck!!!

You know, depression is a real illness which is treatable with therapy and medication. The best way to approach it is by going to a clinical therapist or a psychiatrist. If you are at a loss on where to go, consult your primary care physician. If you feel that you are in danger of hurting yourself, talk to someone about it and/or go to the nearest emergency room.

And, no, you not necessarily need to be treated with medication for the rest of your life. There are different treatment modalities for depression. Medication helps lift your mood, become more operational and gives you clear thoughts. The key is therapy and learning to deal with the issues that are triggering the depressive episodes. Also, there are other physical illnesses that can induce depressive states and the right person to consult would be a psychiatrist.

Have you been diagnosed by a professional with chronic depression? Chronic is just that--chronic (ongoing). Depression is generally caused by a chemical imbalance or by circumstances beyond our control. You should go to a Dr for a proper DX and medication/counseling.

This involves being under the care of a mental health professional for an extended period of time. There is no other way. Depression cannot be handled alone, and it will not go away by itself.

Psychotherapy and medication will help you cope the symptoms and make your quality of life better.

See a psychiatrist or psychologist. Medication is not always needed and should be a last resort.

Get busy, work. Depression feeds on inactivity.

definitely see a doc, but you have to be proactive. drugs are only a start, you have to help yourself. once the drugs have helped clear the clouds away, you have to start learning how to deal with life's situations. pills won't teach you that. make sure your doc is down to earth and pushes you in that direction, not one that's pushing pills.
