I heard breathing more while you run, like 1 deep breathe per 4-5 steps. That helped me a lot, but you'll still cramp up some until you get used to running or working out every day, then it will stop happening.

When you run or exercise you must keep in mind that blood flow to your abdominal area is decreased (that’s why when you are full in to your exercise your tummy is cold) and the blood flow from your abdominal area is being use elsewhere in your body. The cramping comes from eating and/or drinking just before (up to 30 minutes prior to) working out. If you are consuming water (which you should be) you only need to sip little amounts. You should make sure you are hydrating throughout your day rather than at the beginning of your exercise.

Also make sure you are warming up your body before exercise. If you are running, you should warm up by walking briskly for about 5-7 minutes before.

You get cramps when you run w/o stretching. You're cramp is being caused b/c as u run and use your muscles, they tighten and snap (the snapping of the tiny muscle fibers is what causes muscle growath, as they regrow and double like that of a Hydra's head). By strecthing, u loosen up your muscles and allow them to have more "wiggle room" to tighten. Sometimes the cramps can also be caused by dehydration and low K+ levels in your blood stream.
