Sneakers are cheaper.
Tennis shoes, per se, come in so many different styles and models... they're second only to running shoes.

They are considered the same thing now. But a tennis shoe, you actually played tennis in. The soles are different than say running shoes. The grips are different for different surfaces you are playing on. But most people call them the same thing.

the difference to most people is where your are from the south calls it the tennis shoe the north calls it the sneaker.But a tennis shoe is actually usually canvas, where as a sneaker is usually leather or another more reinforced design.
