As someone who played tennis in college I am always amazed it's perfectly fine for the male tour players to play 5 set matches the last 3,4,5 hours while the woman finish in about 45 minutes in the best of 3 set matches. Of course the woman demanded equal pay and the tour acquiesced and pays them the same.
I keep waiting for NOW to show up and shut the place down demanding equality but alas, they're still busy protesting Clinton over how he abused, misused and then trashed Lewinsky.
Oh you mean they're not? Maybe I can give the hypocrites a call and see if they're still in existence.
I'd like to see why they don't protest the fact that a man has no say in whether or not a woman has an abortion BUT if he is married, whether the child is his or not, he pays child support for 18 years if they divorce.
Yeah' I'll call them right now. I wonder what the record is for being placed on hold. I have a feeling I'm about to find out.
DawnsEarlyLight- I worked in health care for 17 years. Being the fact that it's about 90% women, I've had my *** grabbed and breast brushed up against me more than you will ever get harassed in your life so don't even think about it.
Rather than piss and moan about it, frankly I just took advantage when I wanted and didn't when I didn't want to. Hey - what do you know, I had a choice.
FYI for you guys out there - if you think your lady ain't cheating, trust me - they believe in equal opportunity. If you think you share secrets with them, thrust me - you have NO secrets with them.
They will tell a complete stranger in line at the grocery store you're good for about two minutes with you standing right behind them. I have heard it all.
galaxiquestar - Once again, tell the whole story. A few years ago I saw a US labor bureau statistic that said the average woman, regardless of educational level, stays in the workforce for just 7 years. Let's be nuts and double that to 14. Are you so biased as to think that person deserves the same wages as someone with 30 years experience. Get real for a change.

It's obvious that you're speaking from your "feeling" and not thought since the question is grossly generalized and non-specific. When do women demand preference? When they ask for financial help and time off to perform childcare, perhaps? If men were ever to take on the unpaid, unrespected tasks of childrearing, caring for the elderly, etc., then women wouldn't have to ask for monetary and other support to do these jobs. And if you hadn't noticed the illogic of the question itself, I'll point it out to you. Why would women have to "push for equality" if it wasn't obviously lacking? If you're immature enough to want to know why men are expected to pay on dates and treat women with gallantry, it's because women STILL only earn 65% of what men do, and because men have acquired enough civilization to request a woman's company rather than to use force, as is still the norm in many places. If you're talking about another issue; specify.

i'm a woman and i agree with what you say.
however, it's based on the assumption that how the big boys play is the best way to do things, which is not always true.
i read on answers a few days ago a quote from i think germaine greer, who said that women will only be equal when they can walk down the street bald and with a beer gut (or something similar). now that would really be playing with the big boys ;)

Your big boys comment is misguided, in my opinion, but women are able to do this because they are afforded the luxury of a double standard on this issue by societal norms.
I pretty much just accept that's how it is. We men get to pee standing up at least. I'm thankful for that.

That 's the way women are. Get them to vote on sexual equlity by raising their draft cards, sometime. I do it every month or so.

We want equality.. sure, but when it comes to Bubba hitting on us, we do need laws in place to protect our rights. You don't have to worry about sexual harassment in order to move up ...do you?

Women just want to have their cake and eat it too. And since they can get away with it, they do.
