That depends on if you're willing to spend additional money buying an import over that of a North American car.
As a former taxi owner in a small city, it was always the most economical to run cars that required little maintenance other then regular oil changes and transmission fluid changes. I put on over 140,000 miles per year and had the best reliability out of Pontiac Grand Prix's with the 3800 series engines and the Chrysler Intrepid with 3.3 litre engines. Keeping these vehicles on the road 7 days a week and running them in excess of 400,000 miles before pulling them, they were still maintained to proper standards and safety checked right up to the end. Every one of my former taxi's were bought and used happily by very satisfied people.
The Japanese companies do indeed make excellent automobiles, however, spending your money abroad does little to improve the nations economy where you live.

You have to check out the Acura TSX (manufactured by Honda)...This is by far the best value for your money! Great gas mileage, comfortable, and loaded with great features...

Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford 500, Ford Taraus, Chevy Impala, go take a look and test drive. I think you'll get a good feel for what you like personally.

Chevy Cavalier is good 4 door has a lot of room. Don't buy foreign, buy american cheaper to fix when something does go wrong!
