Yes my sister had her period for the first five months of her first pregnancy. She suspected, but didn't know for sure she was with child. This was many years ago - my niece is now almost 30.

Last year, I also didn't know I was pregnant - I had my regular monthly cycle, and didn't gain weight. I found out I was 10 weeks pregnant the day I miscarried.

It's a rare occurence for a woman not to know she is pregnant, but it does occasionally happen.

You are asking two questions really. As for signs of a menstrual cycle during pregnancy, it is very normal, but not an actual cycle. In fact, some spotting in the first trimester at the time of your cycle is common. Spotting in the second and third trimesters is less common, but not necessarily a sign of any problem. Any heavy flow during pregnancy, on the other hand, should prompt you to visit you OB. It is not a normal occurrence, and can be a sign of other problems, though it does happen.

As for the not knowing your pregnant, that is a different question. I know a woman, who had irregular cycles to begin with, and didn't realize she was pregnant until the eighth month. She was heavy set and went to the doctor due to tiredness. Hard for me to imagine, as I start puking within two weeks of implant... So, to not know the whole time is very rare, as most people have some symptoms. But, for the your health and a potential fetuses, always give the OB a call if you have doubts.
