no, because it is a defect on human chromosome 21, where 3 copies are made instead of 2. this has never been seen to occur in the genomes of other organisms.

trisomy 21 (3 # 21 chromosomes instead of the usual 2) is known as Down Syndrome in Humans. There might be a trisomy 21 in some other organisms, but it would manifest in some other syndrome that would not be anything like Down.

As Downes Syndrome is a genetic defect in a human gene, an animal (which does not have human genes) could not be born with it. However there are genetic defects in animals that would cause similair retardations in animals (Sorry if that is not the Politically Correct term for it)

Since this a condition involving human chromosomes, there would be no possibility of an animal having Down's Syndrome as we know it.

Some authors say there's a similar affection in chimpanzees (there could be, their chromosomes are very similar to ours), but not in other animals.

no but they can be born with a condition that causes fluid to not drain from the brain properly. "water on the brain". it causes retardation and they cant nurse.

no thats only a human thing and if they did they would usually die within two days my mom is a vet so yea
