Researching crocodiles and alligators for a previous question I discovered American Alligators have been known to take down bears. The great white shark being larger and more powerful than an alligator should have no problem killing a bear. Of course great whites don't go that far north, but it's a hypothetical question.

IF this were on land, the polar bear would have no real problem (since the great white is immobilized on land due to its lack of terrestrial mobility and massive girth). A well placed paw strike or clamp down from the jaw should suffice on land. Afterwards, the bear gets to enjoy sushi
In the water, where both animals can be found, the shark would win this fight. Not only is the shark in its element, but it will quickly injure the bear and leave it to bleed out quickly so that the bear, in arctic waters no less, will simply die from a combination of shock, hypothermia, and physical damage. A few moments later, the shark will have bear steak tartar.

Well that would never really happen in the wild, but if it did the shark would win. Polar bears can swim but not nearly as well as the shark. All the shark would have to do is grab hold and pull down. There is an interactive on animalplanet.com where I believe you can compare them for a definite answer.

The individuals answering with the Element of Setting are the ones on target here---where this battle took place would be the deciding factor---in the water, the shark would out gun the bear 20 to 1 for it would be so much faster and stronger there would be no contest Bang and it's over---On land the shark not only would be at disadvantage on mobility but the fact that oxygen could not be supplied by the gills would swiftly encumber ability to function......zap...one large shark steak...rare

i'd say the polar undergo, because in the adventure that they are battling they are going to be transferring round plenty and doubtless pulling one yet another round too. If the shark pulled the undergo into the water, the undergo might want to nonetheless keep battling, yet when the undergo pulled the shark onto land, the shark may suffocate.

Depends on where they fought. In the ocean the shark would win, on land I'd have to go with the bear

assuming it was in the ocean - since sharks don't come out on land, the shark would win. its bigger and stronger and could pull the bear under and the bear would drown.
