Why is it that when a band becomes popular, all the old fans label them as sell outs? Or people judge them just because they were on MTV. please explain this to me

I know! I don't understand either. It drives me nuts! I'm so hopelessly obsessed w/ Fall Out Boy that it's not even funny and most people around me are like "Those guys are sell outs" or "Those guys are fags". I hate that! But I guess it doesn't really matter what they think, only what you think. I went to a FOB concert last month and everyone I talked to said that they're horrible in concert, so I was angry for awhile. But then when I saw them in concert I was like "What are you people deaf!?" They sounded awesome to me!

It has nothing to do with their popularity. It is that many people make Fall Out Boy out to be better than they are. C'mon, some people actually think that they are a rock band, and the "greatest" rock band ever. They are barely rock, as their sound floats along the lines of pop/pop-punk. Pete Wentz is an asshole. I know the band's personality shouldn't get in the way of the music, but he is very obnoxious. Hmmm...have you ever seen their guitar lines? Very basic power chords. Half of their single "Sugar We're Going Down" is played open fret. They suck live, that's a fact. The lead singer's voice, (Patrick?) can get very annoying after a while. I'll admit it, I bought Take This To Your Grave, and I listen to it when I want to hear some Catchy and Simple POP music. Nothing more. Those are my reasons for possibly hating Fall Out Boy, which I don't. I don't hate them, but I don't respect them as musicians.

people hate it when bands are sellouts partly because when their underground bands they think they know about something no one else knows and sometimes the bands become a little showoffy i know my brother hates it when bands go big But if you truly like the band it shouldn't matter

people don't hate FOB they just dont want to admit they like them. FOb is awesome. y does everyone hate MCR
