That people say to respect the president, but then slam past presidents? Is this ignorance, or is this just some type of game?

It's ignorance. Seems like most of the American citizens slept through government class. If they'd have paid at least a little attention they'd remember that the president is basically a puppet on a string and only able to make limited decisions without the consent of congress and the senate.

Well that's wrong. I think everyone should respect the office, & that includes past, present, & future occupants. That does not mean you have to like them or anything they do. I'm perfectly respectful of your right to criticize this President as long as it goes "PRESIDENT Bush is making a bad decision here, I can't see how it makes any sense, does anyone else get why WE are doing this," VERSUS, "That Monkey bush is an idiot fascist nazi destroying the world with his evil conspiracy, he probably planned 9/11 & blamed it on Bin Laden so he could steal oil to pay off the secret club that helped him steal the election." That's not respectful, that's not even got one foot in reality.

You can hate what someone believes or does, but it's wrong to hate people. When it's the President, hateful attacks on him weaken the office, and that weakens the country now & in the future when it might be a person you like. I believe in mutual respect & reasonable debate with the people you most disagree with, because when you can finally agree on something it tends to be a pretty good solution, plus when you actually talk to people they tend to not be so extreme as they initially say they are.
