If you and your best friend attended a party and your friend was irresponsible or careless and almost drank herself to the point where your friend could of died, would it change the way you saw your friend. Would you look down on your friend from that point on or think less of your friend?

I would see her differently, but no look down on her. But that's just me. Youmay have stronger values and morals, or her irresponsibility may just bug you, and maybe you're just growing into two different people going completely different ways. That's not abandoning your friend but it's just a part of growing up and doing what you believe in. But, I would never do that unless my best friend really wasn't someone I liked as a friend anymore, and I haven't had BEST friends, but I've had friends like that, that just needed to go and be irresponsible somewhere else.

he/she needs help and i don't think it would be a good idea to abandon them. They need you to be there for them, and i'd watch how much they drank at a party. Don't let them consume so much alcohol that they could die. Or assign someone ever time you go out that you know will keep to their word *don't just randomly pick someone at a party* and have them be the DD and just have that person look out for the both of you. That way all 3 of you are safe and one of you is thinking clearly enough to get the other 2 home safely and not dead.

Never, sometimes friends do things you don't understand, nor do they, at the time. And I'm sure you have done something silly once that neither of you understood. It's called individualism. As long as you both look out for one another in a dangerous situation and give a helping hand, even if it's not wanted at the time, it's in their own best interest.

I have experienced that with my best friend before. We went out to a club when she just turned 18 and she got incredibly drunk, even though she wasn't old enough to drink. I was outside on the patio of the club having a great time and hanging out with friends when someone came out and told me that she was in the bathroom throwing up and crying and asking someone to find me. I went in there and did what a real friend does, I held her hair back and wiped off her face and drove her safely home. I would never abondon my best friend just because she made a stupid mistake.

I think I would be upset with her behavior. But I would have helped her and talk to her about safe drinking. Instead of thinking less of your friend try to help her out. When somebody needs a hand, give them a hand. God Bless.

Yes I could abandon a best friend if that friend were doing something that was not in my best interest.

I had a similar situation. A friend of mine tried acid. I said if he tried it again we would never speak again. He hasn't done it since, and if he does I will not hesitate to severe our relationship with each other.
