Bats eat bugs. I would leave them there.

The best bat repellent I know of is the Double A team from Kansas, called the Kansas City Royals, I am sorry they are in the big leagues but the way they and the Arizona Diamondbacks
are hitting they certainly can qualify as bat repellents.

I am so sorry, you are speaking of live bats that hang upside down and fly around your head. Please get out of there, fear for your life, you must get away, or you can thank your stars that they are there for they will not hurt you and eat all the insects that usually bother you. Nature will take care of itself..

Try moth balls if you have a ledge to place on or else hang in an open mesh bag where they roost. Since bat are good to have around, to get rid if insects etc. you might want to build a bat nesting box away from your house in a quiet area. See your local AG extension for plans or search the internet.

I actually had this problem! :) They told me that I couldn't hurt them. That I had to call the animal control. That they have a special unit that relocates them. There are certain laws in effect, I don't know if it is all states or not, but that they could only remove them, they couldn't even exterminate them! Nor could I without being prosecuted by law. I called them, they sent two men, two weeks later by the way. They set some special traps for them up by the roof where they were at, and came back two weeks later to get them. Um, yes, some were dead. And holy crap did they stink. I had to move away for 2 months. My landlord had to pay for my stay away and I recovered my 2 months of rent as well. The cost for the removal was charged to them as well. So if you are a home owner, it could get expensive!
Good luck!

Call animal control. Bats for the most part are harmless and are great for eating bugs. They are a true natural wonder. However they do carry rabies in some cases. If it was me - I would just shoooo them away with a broom or something without hurting them.

Get yourself a plastic owl from a home improvement store. They'll stay away from a predator.
