The meaning of life is your own definition that you want to give it. If you are a pessimist, then your life's meaning will be a pessimist, etc...

I asked this question too. Got a few weird answers and some religious ones. I'd say that in my personal opinion, it's survival of the species. That's why humans evolved, after all. But this is more than just 'have sex.' It means that the species needs to survive and live life well and comfortably and with the chance to fulfill their purpose, which is to better someone elses life, which very well may be the life of their child. So that's my opinion. Doesn't mean it's the right answer, and according to some, I'm in big trouble for saying that. But I don't think that anything bad can come from helping people better their lives so I'm sticking with this.

I wrote this a long time ago
In this day and age many people don't believe In God. but some people are so sure that there is a God that they lose touch with reality.
I used to question the existence of God. I've wondered where God is? but If you think about it If you really knew If there was a God,
I mean If you had absolute proof wouldn't that take away all the mystery of life? would you really need faith? for example what if you had no proof
of your existence? would people still believe you are there? would people still talk to you? can we really prove that we exist? Existence is a perception it's how you see the world around you.
like how a scientist looks at microscopic life in a microscope or how a xray takes a view of your bones faith is like a x-ray it see's without sight.
Someone once told me reality is tied to are senses. what you can see, touch, taste and smell are state of reality also depend's also what we think a point of view. I think there for I am.
String theory for example look it up. Its pretty interesting there are more dimensions of reality then what we can see with are eyes.
Then who can say there isn't a God?
I think the answer's are in the heavens. space is the biggest proof of a God. whether we came from ape's or we came from dust who can really say.
who are we to say how God created us? even Darwin believed in God later in his life. so did Einstein
If I had answer's to these questions I wouldn't be searching. But I still wonder if I really exist? or if i was created? or evolved. noone seems to have
proof. the search for truth is a inward search the search for proof is a outward search.
I think we all fell short of the glory of God. And I'm not saying the bible is wrong. but the search for truth is my only concern.
I also think we are proof of a God. scientist's, artist's, philosophers, poet's, musician's, teacher's,
The search of God is the Origin of life and existence. what people are looking for is Hope, And there ready to believe anyone with a answer.
What I'm Looking for is question's and reason but that doesn't mean that I don't believe In God. I don't think anyone has all the answer's.
So the search for God still goes on.

That depends. If you're a fruit, it's to be eaten. If you're a tree, it's to grow and provide shade and prevent topsoil erosion. If you're a herbivore, it's to prevent plantlife from growing too abundant. If you're a carnivore, it's to help regulate the numbers of herbivores.
Life is like that. Just as in nature each part serves the need of the other in order to thrive, in human society we each must employ what talents we have in service to each other in order to thrive. "But we don't all thrive", you might say, and that would be true. But then, we don't all live the way I described, do we? Most of our society believes the meaning of life is whatever we want to be, that it's all 'relative', and we see how well that philosophy is working, Think about it.

Maybe you dont really want to know the meaning of life. Maybe you are really just unhappy and depressed and you are reaching out to find other answers. OR possibly you are feeling useless and worthless. Maybe you are just trying to prove your intelectual prowess by seeing how others view what they think the meaning of life is.
Or just maybe you just wanted to ask a random question to lose 5 pts. I think you should look deeper into why you are asking this question. You know noone on yahoo answers knows this answer only God knows. Lets keep it at that.

There is but one single goal in life: survive. Every objective stems from that.
Survival of self.
Survival of a group (family).
Survival of mankind.
Survival through children.

My priest had a great sermon on this. He said it was to love and be loved. Not just lust love, but real love. Parents and children, God and His people, His people and the environment. All of it.
