July 4 is a holiday for us. If it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, then you get the Friday or Monday. Otherwise, you only get July 4. That is in our company's policy. Don't you have one? So, I took July 3 and July 5 as vacation days. You should consider whether you taking off will cause hardship to the company. If others will be there to cover your work, ask for the day off.

Depends on what kind of job you have. If what you are doing is not that important take off. In fact if it's not important just quit cause you aren't doing anyone any good anyway. Monday is July 3, July 3 is NOT a holiday. There is no Independence Day eve. You should be happy you have a job.

Your boss only has to let you be off on the holiday, but not any days surrounding it. I am taking summer classes, and I have to be there on Monday also. It does seem rather rude to not give people time to travel safely on the holiday.

I am not sure. I work at a bank, so I would assume that we would be open. My husband's place of work is giving them Monday and Tuesday off. We wish he would work Monday, then have Tueday and Wednesday off. He has to get up at 430AM, so he isnt able to stay up real late to do fireworks.....So, we are having ours the night before.

The holiday is July 4th. The holiday isn't celebrated on Monday. It is celebrated on the day itself so you should have to work.
