Sometimes I think all dad's have these thoughts, or should. Be thankfull and know he cares about you. Otherwise hopefully the guys you show an interest in come accros as respectable individuals and not some of the other low lifes I've seen around these days. All good dads (I have a 19 and 16 year old) are worried about their daughters for two simple reasons. 1st being they don't want them to get hurt or make a big mistake and second how they probably behaved in their younger days.

I think your dad is right in a way. There are some guys out there that are gentlemen. I think you should defiantly not argue with your dad, just act like a young lady and behave well, and maybe he will see that even if all the guys are trying to get in your pants you (being good) wont let that happen. Build the trust with your dad so he trusts you more and he knows with out a doubt you can watch out for yourself. Good luck, I was there once too. :-)

Explain your stance on sex. "Dad, I am an intelligent young woman and realize that having a baby right now is not in my best interest. I'm not going to screw the football team."
Actually, every guy you date DOES want to get in your pants. Your dad has a point there. The problem is that he does not understand your reaction to it. Tell him why he doesn't have to worry. And always respect yourself.

Tell him you're not a virgin? Just joking. :>)
He is right, every guy does want to score, eventually. Tell your Dad that you are in control of that and he shouldn't worry.
When ever he says something fatherly, listen very intently and say this, repeat calmly what he says verbatim, then say "Thank you Daddy, that's useful information, I'll do my best to remember, I'll be a good girl. You're such a wonderful Dad, and I love you too."
He'll fall out of his chair. OK Let me know how it works everyone.

Offer to let your dad meet this guy. Maybe get your boyfriend to help you to make dinner for your dad, and, at dinner, get your guy to make intelligent comments. You also might want to tell your man to mention to your dad that he wants to become an engineer when he gets older (even if he really wants to be a Nascar driver)

He just wants to protect his baby girl as much as possible. The teen years are ROUGH. . . I don't know how I survived mine!!!! The best advice I can give you is to bring your boyfriends around the house so that your dad can get to know them a little more. It may help him see that they are not so bad. Your dad's having a tough time dealing with the fact that you are growing up and scared to death that you may be sexually active!

Your dad doesn't see the whole picture.
Every guy you date wants to get in your pants AND every guy who wants to date you, -wants to get in your pants.
And oh, BTW, he may or may not understand you, but he does understand guys.

You should ask him if he says this because he was like that as a young boy and why he doesn't trust that you'll make the right decision. At least I hope you'll make the right decision and wait. Don't make it something you'll regret later on. Try being more open with your dad and ask why he really feels that way.

Talk to him about it, or talk to a relative about it. Explain about your dad and ask about his motives. Maybe he had a bad experience when he was a kid, or one of his siblings or a cousin did, or a friend. Then, take things slowly and take your boyfriends to your dad for dinner and a movie. Warn your boyfriend beforehand and figure out what he and your dad have in common. (Football, hint hint.) Then tell him and he has a convo topic!
