It depends on how long ago it expired. Within a couple months, you are fine. The FDA requires an expiration because the active ingredients can degrade to inactive ingredients. Most are not harmful, and they just don't work for the reasons you took it. Some could be harmful, but I wouldn't worry unless you are looking at more than a year. I would throw out your bottle though.

it wont do anything to you harm wise, the FDA just makes companies put the date on there as a precaution, they last a lot longer than that
