You need some stones to hold the heat so the gas doesn't do all the work. The gas should be on low when you cook so you don't end up with bad tasting food. You can also add some hickory or mesquite chips. Soak those in water for about half an hour and use them to add a smoke flavor to your foods. You can arrange your cooking stones at one end so you have a cooler end as well if you like. Some foods need to cook slower at lower temps. Of course, the most important thing is to have good ingredients. Cooking is about ingredients and timing. Good luck and enjoy.

For veggies, use a low heat and keep re-applying your dressing. For Steak and other "thick" meats, Season first and use med high heat. Turn after 4 minutes and do the same on the other side. For more well done just let it sit longer before turning.
Burgers should go 3-4 minutes each side.

Sear meats on med high, then reduce heat to med. each grill is different, you will get adjusted to it in no time at all, just pay attention to the settings you use, be sure to preheat the grill and to turn it on high when you are done for about five minutes to burn off grease drippings.
Heres a good potatoe recipe that is quick for you to try out, take two good sized sheets of aluminum foil and spray with pam, peel and slice potatoes a little thicker than you would to fry them on the stove, add sliced onion and green peppers diced several pats of butter and some parmesean cheese, wrap in the double thickness of the foil and wrap with additional piece of foil, set tem on the grill to med or med high, you will have to experiment with your grill, turn potatoes foil and all every 15 minutes for about 45 min. be sure to put what ever meat you are cooking on about 15 min before the potatoes are done, cut the foil open and serve when done, Good luck with your new grill
