It's red nailpolish that turns nails yellow. She needs to lay off the dark colors. If she goes with only light colors until they grow out completely.

I had that problem before, the only way in getting rid of it is to avoid keeping nails colored/manicured whether a cheap or expensive manicures...m not saying that its too bad to put colors on the nails, of course not!you can use colors for sometime but not forever...nails also are like humans..if you keep on coating it with colors...they cant breathe and there would be a greater chances for you to get dead finger nails

In the future i would wear a base coat under any nail varnish especially strong colours. This will prevent the nail varnish from staining your nails. The only way to get rid of the yellow tint on your nails is to keep trimming them when they grow and soon it will grow out. Or you could put a basecoat on your nails and put nail varnish over it to disguise it. (: x

First of all, I think it is kinda sweet that you care. First of all, no more nail polish! Tell her to go get a nail whitening pen and use that to whiten the tips (you just color the underside of the nail tip) and put a clear, strengthening polish over the whole nail. This will make them appear whiter and keep her from painting them until they grow out again.

It's either from the polish (it can happen even with basecoat, I paint my toenails red and the basecoat doesn't stop them from staining) or self-tanner if she uses that. If it is polish, gently buff the top of the nail & use a bit of whitening toothpaste. If it is self-tanner, scrub hands & nails with a nail brush after applying.

she really needs 2 stop painting her nails. Maybe she does it to hide the yellowness but the more she does it the yellower it will get. She cant hide them forever. Also if she smokes, she should stop.
:)
P.S. Tell her not 2 worry, im sure her nails look really nice!

Take a bowl of water and place about a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in it. Soak your nails in it for a few minutes. Take a toothbrush and scrub your nails also. It happens when you use dark colored nail polish like red, because of pigments.

She must go to a beauty parlour where they could treat her nails. Her nails need a complete nail care that she won't be able to do by herself. Nails also need to be oxygenated.
