Imagine you found out that you're just a "brain in a vat", where a computer is feeding sensory input into your brain. Everything you've experienced is just an illusion fed into your brain by the computer.

Would you live your life differently after learning this? (This isn't the Matrix, so you don't get to fly or any of that stuff.)

row, row, row my boat, chop wood, carry water. It really would not make any difference because your illusion may be my reality and visa versa. just take it as it comes and try not to harm anybody in the process

If i was in a vat and life was an illusion i would still carry on as the imaginary beings created in my brain are real to me. and who is to say that the same input isn't being used elsewhere in the system? and that my input is or is not critical to another brains fuctioning.?

That would be mind blowing, because once you learn something like that, you can't just pretend nothing ever happened. Every time I did something I would be thinking "this isn't real, this is just a bunch of sensory imput." You can't just take a pill and make it all better. That would make me think "This is nothing but a dream, and if and when I actually wake up, I might not like what I see."

Wow, to think that all the pain and suffering of losing loved ones, the happiness of giving birth to children, to love so deeply and be loved, it was just an illusion? Would I live my life differently after learning this? It wouldn't be living would it, it would be an illusion.

We are in a constant state of illusion! There neednt be any assumption. The Hindu philosophies of religion,it says Life is and illusion. We percieve things which are in a constant state of change, motion.Nothing is eternal.
We are doing exactly the way in an illusionary world.

If, as you assume that "illusion" is a passive receiving of informations, life is like a robot machine without any *will* of our own.

The truth is that, all humans have a *will* of his own. We are responsible for all our thoughts and actions. Therefore, we all have a free will of *choice*.
If we let people to brainwash us, that's also our choice.
