Half-Life 2 Mod Mistake of Pythagoras help?

I just downloaded the game, and have no idea what to do in the first city after exiting the apartment. Dont care if it is a spoiler, I just have no idea.

If you are in the beginning, where you come out to the courtyard. Go to the right, you will see a guard gaurding a door that is cracked open. You have to distract him and run in the door.
