Read all the major points to the Chapters. They are usually in the beginning and end of each chapter. Also, look over any bold print or any vocabulary words. Both are usually important when taking a history text. Look up any words you do not know, and, answer all the review questions in the chapters, these will help you highlight then main points in your head. Good Luck!

read every word out loud into a tape recorder. then listen to it. do not skip words. then read it again while listening to the tape and follow along. make up pretend questions for others and then put down 4 answers for each question but only one correct. by making the test you will be doing what the teacher does and anticipate the exam. It works very well. soon there will not be any questions anyone can ask that you do not know the answer to. you will have MASTERED the text.

Get out your 3x5 cards and make notes on them of the major points of each chapter. One point per card. Next on a second batch of 3x5 cards right down questions relating to the major points. Then go through the question cards and try to answer the questions.

Works like a charm.

Go through all the summaries and read them. After that then go back and read as much as you can from the book. Chapter one is usually an intro chapter so you can probaby skip it.

This is why you are supposed to read when they assign in to you.

I hope you've read them, that's the most essential thing. Make outline's of notes, re-write notes, get with a study group, use a highlighter to highlight key facts.

Jot down the main points for each chapter and quiz yourself as you finish each chapter. Or, do as I did in school, make your teacher an offer he can't refuse.
