in regards to fengshui and rice, i can only think of the way you cook rice. if your using a stove, the knobs of the stove should face the your good directions; if your using a rice cooker, some books advices to point the wire where electricity is going into the cooker to your good direction, but some masters suggest to point the controls/ knobs to your good directions.
regarding the packet, i still believe that my method above is more powerful as far as attracting wealth is concerned than putting the rice packet.

yes it symbolise propserity and wealth. You should also take note of where your rice cooker is placed. The placement of rice cooker is believed by most geomancers to affect a house's feng shui. According to pakua school, it is best placed in East or Southeast sector of kitchen.
