I have nothhing to unplug, I've reset the computer, I've done a virus scan, but there is not much else it will let me do without a mouse. I really don't know ehat to do.

well y didnt u say so before... hit the win key on bottom row... hit the arrows to get to control panel... then go to printers and other hardware or if in classic view go to mouse or pointers.... may have ot use tab... hit enter once mouse is highlighted...then hit either alt & tab at same time to flip back and forth between pages and come back here and then tab or ctrl&tab to go between info on page or just tab... should help I hope

Plug in an external mouse, then reboot.
The mouse pointer may be damaged or the software for the pointer may be corrupted. Go get the drivers for the pointer and reinstall them.

batteries probably run low. next time it happens (if you can) change the batteries and see if the mouse starts to work. If this is the case then keep spare batteries or the ones in th mouse charged. If this isnt the case then i'd think your mouse isn't working properly. try it on another computer and see if it stops working. if it carries on working then its fine, and its your laptop if thats the case, go to start>control pannel> device manager> pointing devices. click on whichever is the non working mouse. click on drivers tab at the top, then uninstall drivers. click yes. reinstall the drivers and see if it works then this is if you are running vista if you are running XP, its the same but go to start>control pannel>system. click the hardware tab, then click device manager. from here its the same

i hate it when i have a frozen mouse....try plugging in a desktop mouse(with the computer off) and see if that works. you may have to send the laptop out to have the touch pad fixed/replaced

so plug in a mopuse and see what the problem is with the touchpad

IF YOU REBOOTED YOUR COMPUTER IT SHOULD OF HELPED, CLEAN THE BALL IF YOUR MOUSE IS THAT TYPE, IF IT IS WIRELESS, CHECK YOUR BATTERY.
