No, both programs do the same thing but speak a different language and use different authentication... it would be like you talking in English to someone who only speaks Korean and all the while you are trying to figure out(as are they) if they are who they say... and vice-versa...

Some IM works with one another - unfortunately, I don't think YIM and AIM do. What you can do, to get around this incompatibility and IM your friend on a different platform is download Trillian (www.trillian.com) and register your YIM account, as well as create any account for any other service you wish (like AIM - it's free), and you can have all your IM tools in one chat utility - thus, you can communicate with your friend.

No you cant send a IM if your friend had a different kind of messenger. If you want to talk to your friend on IM just get AIM or have your friend get YIM.

Use the program Trillian. You can sign into AIM and Yahoo messneger and even MSN messenger all at the same time. So through Trillian you CAN IM people through any program.

No you can't But look into Trillian. It wraps up AOL, MSN, ICQ, and others into one nice little program. You can then send to all your contacts regaurdless of service.
