I have most recently pondered the meaning of this most profound question. It was brought about by seeing someone with a house flag of this apparently infamous phrase, though..I am unsure of the "official" meaning.
I took it to mean finishing a project, or completing a task of some sort. The answer, I sadly report, is a reluctant, "No". I haven't got 'er done today. I've been much too distracted by answering question on Yahoo Answers.

If "er" means vacuuming out my and my parents' cars and Windexing my father's truck's windshield, then yes, I did "git er done" today.
