I feel safe, sometimes intimidated by large groups, but nothing I can't handle.
The thing is I'm one of the guys people are wary of late at night. In a pub or club I can approach someone no problem, but when leaving and walking home, when away from social areas people become incredibly sensative, women cross the road if they see me coming before they can possibly see me properly.
I don't mind this because I am not 5' tall and 9 stone, I am 6' tall, 13 stone and in shape and I don't have what dirty old men want if you know what I mean.
I have two daughters, and I worry for them even though they are only 10 and 11. I have them going to karate and then theres my own personal tuition.
Just remember there are good guys out there as well, but don't stop being carefull.

NO! And I am not a wimp or a coward, I am a 23-year-old female living in London and I know that if push came to shove I would have a hard time defending myself because I am small.
It still shocks me when I see my friends getting on public transport at silly hours of the morning, I mean, why not just get a gun and point it to your head?!
Thank god I passed my driving test when I was 18 because I can just jump in and lock the doors and be off.
I can't believe how reckless some women can be with their personal safety, look after number 1 is what I say because no-one else will do it for you.
Peace and love and stay safe my friend.x.

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes,
You're paralyzed
Darkness falls across the land
The midnite hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize y'awl's neighborhood
And whosoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpse's shell
The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

I'm male 6ft 2 inches tall and I've done some martial arts. Hell no - against drug addicts who will kill for a fix, gangs of drunks, drunken drivers, psychotics, schizophrenics - the night time seems to bring them all out on to the streets. This is a relatively, nice and safe neighbourhood - I'd hate to live somewhere really dangerous.

Depends what country you are in. I'm in India, and there is no way I'd go out alone--I'd blow my reputation of being a respectable married woman. In Sweden, no problem. In the US--depends on where, and what kind of attitude I have to cop to survive. If you act scared and walk like you're scared, you are a target with two legs. It helps to take a full contact self defense couse (or if you grew up with bratty brothers...that'll do it.)

Yes. I am often out alone much later than that at night.
Although I have to admit that I am usually in the car & have my dog with me.
Crime is not too bad here (Aberdeen) although it seems to be getting worse.

Not when Sharky aka Michael Jackson is loose!
I really feel safe in my neighbourhood, but lately I had someone following me and so I don't go out alone after dark.

It depends on where I am. I used to live at a place where I felt comfortable going out well after midnight (alone) - but I wouldn't do that where I live now.
