Sorry, I should have been more specific. I just bought two matching antique wooden pieces of furniture and they are from a smokers home. One is a vanity with mirror and a matching dresser. How do I get the smoke out of wood furniture? Thanks!

I'm not sure if it works for wood, but Mythbusters the other day proved that vodka helps take the cigarette smell out of clothing. If you try it, try it on a part of the furniture that is not visible first.

Of course you can clean it and everything and that will help, but a good way to get rid of odors is to put some newspaper in it. My mom bought a grandfather's clock that smelled like cigarette smoke and she did this and it worked great. Something about the newspaper absorbs the odors. Good luck!

Try some "Old English" - add some real VANILLA EXTRACT.If you use a very fine steel wool - say 0000 - it should pull out the smoke smell while cleaning the wood. Finish off using a cotton cloth to buff the surface. Let me know how it worked out. Pete

Just like everything else, wash it.

It is that simple. I suggest a bucket filled with warm water, and some wood cleanser. There are several to choose from. Then, polish the whole piece with wood polish. Again, there are a few choices, so pick what one you like best.

Lemon pledge.

Or wipe the entire set down with linseed oil. Then use any citrus based natural oil on top of that.
