don't worry -- there are going to be "signs" -- it's not just gonna come out "heavy" it usually starts very light. always carry a napkin in your purse so that you are prepared when it comes.
if you were swimming, and you just got it -- i don't think it's going to "trail", if it was already heavy -- then i don't think you should swim.

If you are swimming it is likely you wont get it. Your period tends to lighten up in water. You will probably know when it is coming on- your lower abdomen, your lower back may ache, you might have a headache, and you'll probably be snappish. If yo uaer of age (I'm assuming you're 12 or 13) I would start carryign around the small liners in your purse, maybe in a hidden pocket or so, so it wont be noticeable, like if you pull out your wallet and it falls out. Just in case, I would carry something like that around. Don't be scared. It's natural, and you will be able to tell.

If it is your first time it will be hard to tell when you will get it. Just make sure you keep panty liners with you at all times . Usually your first time is very unpredictable. And it will more than likely be slow I wouldn't think you would just have a big gush you will probably start out with a light discharge it might be off in color though but don't worry. Good luck

You can kinda tell when you get it, I've started before, but I got it again yesterday, and I could kinda tell if like, something was coming out, lol. But since it will be your first time and if you don't have any pads or tampons with you, go to the bathroom, and use toilet paper and fold it up and wear it as a pad until you tell your mom, sister who has already had it, or adult you trust, so they can take you to get some pads and tampons.

Dont be scared. My mom took me out to celebrate being a woman! If your swimming the water will wash it away. You can feel it come out. Thats gross, but true. Just dont wear white anything untill you get it and figure out your cycle.

thats normal...maybe when you feel like youre getting bloated you can start putting on pantyliners JUST IS CASE you know? thats what i used to do when i was not sure when it would start...then just carry the pads in your purse so when it does happen, youre prepared. if youre swimming, just hope you have a good friend to tell you that youre spotting.

Most girls start their first cycle slowly, and (this is a little gross) but usually you will see a little brownish to red discharge in your panties before full flow starts. Don't be afraid, talk to you mom or female adult you trust.

Oh you KNOW when you get it. Don't worry about it at all. Just keep some pads with you.

wear pantyliners, then if it starts, you won't leak through. I got mine while swimming....it was no big deal.
