Because each individual thinks that their own ideas about life are right. It's hard for people to believe that there could be a better or even different way that what they know or believe. It's human instinct to compare, compete, yet it takes effort to compromise...

Human nature...what can you say about it?

A lot of people are insecure about themselves, so when they meet someone who is radically different from themselves they feel uncomfortable around them. Their initial insticit is to judge them or to make fun of them to make themselves feel better about their insecurity. Ususal those who are ostracized from society are done so because others are jealous of them because they are able to be themselves around people and not feel embarresed that they are open (emotionally, mentally etc.) to the world.

It is a shame but some people can not trust others perhaps because so many do not tell the truth.

Because if people admit that someone else's ideas or actions, which are different than their own, are all right, then inside maybe they feel that somehow their own ideas could be wrong.

because they are afraid someone else might not think that that person is "cool", so they ditch the different person for their stuck-up friends....... theyre a bunch of wieners!!!
