In most public places, people are indifferent. It almost seems like walking on a different planet sometimes. I like people and enjoy talking with strangers or all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Usually when I start a conversation, people respond well. But does it bother anyone else to find people so unexpressive in public places? I love that people talk here on Yahoo.

Empathy is the reason I'm indifferent.

The reason I avoid eye contact is another thing altogether.

I think it is partially because of the internet. People can be who ever they want to be online, and in person, many people fear that their inadequacies and faults will be exposed.

Also, I think people these days love being busy, and one thing about being busy is not having time to talk to people as you stated that you enjoy doing.

Because everyone is afraid that they will be rejected, even slightly.
