Have you tried Neutrogena products? They make an acne wash that is good. Be careful you don't dry out the rest of your face. Lush also makes a good herbal product. If you find that your face is very red try applying calamine lotion at night to take out the redness, doesn't do anything about the acne but at least it looks better. Old fashioned soap and water can help and sometimes toxins in your bloodstream can make it worse so try to eat healthy. Lots of fruit and veg and limit the sugars and carbs. If all else fails see a physician. They make some great ($$) medications that can help but I'd try everything else first.

Proactive worked for a while for me, but not for long.
A dermatologist is the best bet, but it's a huge pain.
It also costs big dollars even if you have insurance.
I got a tip from my niece, who said she started using St.Ives cleansing cream for blemish prone skin at night, and St.Ives Apricot scrub fo normal skin in the morning. I've had great success so far. I also added Clearasil cream twice a week, and I do a midday wash with Phisoderm Cleanser for sensitive skin, just to keep the oil down.
I'm 35 now, and have had to struggle with acne since I was 20 years old. I know that not all the same things work for everyone, so I guess you'll just have to try and adjust your routine, and try products until you find what works. Proactive was too drying and irritated my skin. All acne products usually have salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. The acid is supposed to help get rid of dead skin, the peroxide is supposed to dry up the oil. Figure out whether either of those two ingredients irritate your skin, and if they do, don't use them. Never use anything that stings, such as alcohol.
I hope I helped.

A doctor can tell you based upon your symptoms. You may have a bacterial issue versus an oil production issue, which are treated differently. So if OTC stuff isn't working, see a doctor. There are benzoil peroxides and antibiotics (both topical and oral) that can help. But only your doc will know which to use.

try putting tea tree oil neat on your skin while you sleep. I do and it really helps dry out zits and it smooths out your face. you see a slight improvement the next morning. just put enough on your face and don't dilute it. get it at your drug store now. it works well and contains no chemicals, it's all natural so won't damage your skin!

If it's a bad problem you've got to see a dermatologist. They are the only ones who can evaluate your skin to see the cause-then they can help you clear it up.

I clean my face with rubbing alcohol every night, make sure you don't get near your eyes. And make sure you moisturize, most people don't know that acne can come from dry skin.

I use Clearasil they have many creams, pads, and wipes. Otherwise, a Dermaltologist is the best bet. (Noxsema isnt bad either.)
