Where are you getting this information? Sounds like the crap that is spread on the nightly news. You really need to travel to different places in the country and meet different people and then you will have a better perspective.
BTW, it's enigma not inigma.

I guess the difference between conservatives & liberals really is money afterall. At least it's all liberals seem to care about. They look at society instead of the individual, and say that because a people are poor govt should step in to save them.
Most conservatives are not rich, and they don't want the govt helping them either. They want to make it on their own & know they did it for themselves. They believe personal pride & responsibility is more important than being rich. They wouldn't trade their self-reliance for all the money in the world, and they are offended that people would believe they can't take care of themselves & their family. They believe societally in the biblical idea of not giving a fish, but teaching a person to fish. Is that not a fair & reasonable way for people to think? I not only think it's right, I think it is the very spirit & drive that once made America great, and is now on the decline. Stop standing around & asking what govt is doing for you & do it for yourself. I want a govt that doesn't do much of anything (& so doesn't need much tax to do it with), stays out of my way & lets me live my life w/o feeling like my parents are looking over my shoulder expecting me to fail.
It happens that people who think like these conservatives I've described do oppose abortion, gay marriage, & flag burning, but those are ancilary issues. They do also support the war, and not because they are brain washed, but because they feel morally obligated to give everyone the OPPORTUNITY to make a life for themselves that can only occur under democratic freedom. They also know that you can't defeat an idea, but you can change the people (thru refomer democracy in the mid-east) that listen to it so that they will reject it in future generations.

a. Can I ask you a question? What is wrong with giving wealthy people who work hard for everything they have- and are able to have nice things because of their hard work- a break? American worth ethic was once very strong- now, so many people think that they can sponge off the system for the rest of their life that it is meaningless.
b. Bush IS cutting taxes, etc. The only problem is that the money he saves goes to help third-world countries, fight wars that aren't necessary yet, defeat "enemies" that are enemies of other countries more then ours, etc. I'm not a big fan of Bush, and I think that there are other conservatives that could do better then he is doing, but I'd rather have him in office then any liberal.

All these answers are shallow. Let us go deep. The root. There is a nation of people that base even their history on lies. Their lies has been ingrained in their hearts to believe that they are superior when they are just mere common thieves. This nation that lied from the beginning has a distorted lineage, however if you notice closely, even you all that buy into and promote the lies, that you are fighting a losing battle and it doesn't end well. And because you won't have your way, you believe in self destruction. You will want to die and can't. This nation that has lied from the beginning will experience torment, because of their father whom is the father of all lies. It is inevitable for the poor and rich alike

Well, because they ARE poor, white and religious ... and if you are poor, your educational level for the most part rather low ... and if you're a religious nut to boot, stuff like gay marriage and abortion etc. takes on more importance than the fact that the whole country is going down the tubes due to the mismanagement of the administration in Washington ...

Twenty five percent of the troops who are killed in Iraq come from California, which is way out of proportion to California's overall population. California is a largely democratic state. Thus, George W. Bush sends Democrats to the front lines to do the most dangerous jobs, where they die, while keeping "white religious conservatives" who are in the armed forces out of harms way! The spoils system in one of its most wicked variations ever. Thus "poor white religious conservatives" from other states are free to "join up" and "serve their country" (just like George HA! HA! HA!) and collect veterans benifets for the rest of their lives!

the same reason the:
the ignorant
the hand out dependent
the "I have to have a cause" lemmings
the "I can't keep a job without a union" workers
the "all I can do is teach little children" workers, love liberals.
Those people need liberals to satisfy their needs -
Bush serves needs too - .
The need for security
The need not to be taxed into the poor house
The need to express to the world not to f*ck with us or die.

Because the religious right has convinced them that abortion is murder.
Even the Catholic church changed their definition from the first breath to from conception.
They were hoping that he could get Roe vs Wade overturned and with his justices on the supreme court they may get their wish.

He's been trying to help them by cutting taxes for everyone and privatizing Social Security so that they will have retirement income that's large enough to actually live on.
