There are various degrees of refurbished electronics. Ask the manufacturer what their particular definition is.

It means that originally it had a manufacturing defect. It was then sent back to a factory, fixed and then resold. Refurbished units are sold for less than new items (Though they are almost always just as good) So be sure you're not getting ripped off. This is also reffered to as "Remanufactured".

Hope this helps!

Refurbished or Refurbishment (restoration) is the process of major maintenance or minor repair of an item, either aesthetically or mechanically.

So they take a phone that was returned for one reason or another, fix it up and sell it at a discount. I have gotten several this way and have never had a problem with them.

It must be an "imitation". Continually determine for trademarks and trademarks (most Apple merchandise, specially iPod have this printed embossed brand), that is how you're going to understand if it can be common or imitation. Most cellphones now are china made and don't endure this embossed brand.
