Jericho wanted to get out of wrestling with his health. He felt he had a good and long run in the business and wanted to spend more time with his baby boy and wife.
He's still with his band Fozzy, he has an XM radio show dealing with metal music and he's trying to break into acting. He's already filmed a part in one movie and he spends a lot of time on VH1 in their celebrity countdown shows.

Eric Bischofff assigned a match between John Cena and Chris Jericho stating that whoever lost would be fired from the WWE, so at a payperview they had their match and Jericho lost and was fired on Monday Night Raw.

When on RAW, he had a match wit John Cena for his title, and if Chris Jericho won, he'd be WWE Champion, but if he lost he'd be fired, and he didn't beat him, so then he took it as a joke, because he thought that Eric wouldn't let him be fired, so he acted like if everything was ok, and Eric told him that he was fired, and than Chris Jericho was fired, so he started begging for his job, but Eric wouldn't break his promise, although they had become friends.

He was released/fired after a the first "You're fired" match against john cena, Chris lost so he got fired and now he is touring with his band fozzy and is gonna show up on the small screen in a tv movie on the Sci-Fi channel
