My LMP started May 22. I ovulated June 5, which I had intercourse that day. I started having pregnancy symptoms about a week later in which I also started spotting on June 12. My friend said it was implantation bleeding, which I did not have with my first pregnancy. June 12 and 13 the spotting was light. On the 14 and 15 it has been like a regular period. My friend says I could have my first period and still be pregnant. Is this true? My next period should not have been until June 19. I have taken 2 tests that have come back negative, but I took those on the 12 and 13, so it may have been too early. Also, since I am bleeding, can I take another HPT and it work?

If you are bleeding now, you probably are not pregnant. However, some women DO continue to have regular monthly flows in their pregnancy. If you did ovulate on the 5th, you are only 10 dpo, which can be too early for a HPT test to pick up. Wait another week, take an HPT, and that one will probably be accurate. If you continue to have funny cycles like this, be checked by your ob/gyn to make sure there's nothing physiologically wrong.

Good luck to you!

HPTs show any pregnancy hormone in the body and it takes several days for all the hormone to leave the body after a miscarriage. If it is like a regular period and you are under 8 weeks pregnant, then it does sound like a miscarriage. You must go to the doctor for an ultrasound to make sure nothing was retained that could cause you problems with later pregnancies.

I am so sorry. I had two miscarriages and was very heartbroken, but I want you to know that I also have two healthy children. Miscarriage happens to about 20% of all pregnancies and seems especially common in first pregnancies.

Yes, you can have a period (or more than one!) and still be pregnant. There's only one way to know now and for sure: a blood test. They have an accuracy rate of 100%. Don't buy a common test at a pharmacy, go to your doctor ASAP so you can start taking care of your pregnancy (in case you are pregnant) or simply know the best thing to do next.

All sounds familiar. My son is now 3. I took two tests also. Finally 5 days before my MP was to start the test was positive. I would wait until you stop bleeding and make an appointment. You might need medical attention. You could have miscarried and need to get cleaned out.

Possibly. . . when a woman has bleeding during pregnancy (very rare to have much bleeding and have a viable pregnancy!) it is not actually a period. That much bleeding that early in a pregnancy would probably indicate a miscarriage. Sorry!

Just take another one to be sure. Very low chance that you had a normal period and your pregnant. The implanation of an egg immiditely closes up the uterus and doesn't allow anything out or in.

it is still possible. if you are late then your body could just be spotting. it is also possible to have your period the entire time you are pregnant. it just depends on the person. have you taken a test at the drs? if you have not started you cycle by the 20th i would take another test
