Is there any truth at all to stereotypes? Is there any case whereby a stereotype would be a good thing...in other words, a compliment towards an individual or group?

Or, should be dispense with them altogether?

stereotypes can be true for certain individuals or groups, however stereotypes are generally false due to the fact that they usually fit only a small few out of a whole group and fall easy prey to the slippery slope. Stereotypes can be good in the essence that those that find themselves stereotyped often work hard at overcoming the stereotypes, breaking down the barriers they can create, and bettering themselves for it. Stereotypes also encourage us to learn about different races and cultures, gaining a better understanding of them.
