Go to the state you have the lost ID with, get a copy. OR, get your legal birth certificate and apply for a new ID in Illinois. What's the problem?

do an online search for birth certificates+the state you were born and get yours. it may cost like $15.

then you need to contact social security. it is going to be a pain, but is totally doable. they'll tell you where the closest office is and you can obtain a card.

the next step would be your DMV for a state ID card.

i hope that gets you started :)

how have you been operating for a few years without an ID????

you usually get state issues id's (granted i don't live in illinois) from the same place you get a drivers license. go to your states department of transportation website, it will tell you where to go and what you need to have, you'll definitely need a birth certificate and if you don't have that you can get a copy by contacting the dept of vital statistics wherever you were born. just go to any search engine and type in illinois department of transporation, it will find the website for you and from there you will get all the answers you need. good luck lisa!

I would think you could go to the DMV to get just an I.D. card. Or just call first to check, and if not, they may be able to tell you where you can get one.

call the county clerks office, they will instruct to the type of proof they ned to provide you with a identification.--there will be a cost for the service you may need to provide your own photo or be charged an additional cost . Gather any present and valid identification you have, such as birth certificate, mail addressed to you, voter registration card, socail security card, medical card etc.

I think a few years back someone who didn't drive had a drivers license for ID. They told me you can get a non-driver drivers license to be used for ID purposes. You should look on the DMV website. Its the most official ID you can probably get.

Go to the DMV, where you would get a driver's license. They should have everything there that you need. Just in case, bring a copy of your birth cirtificate. Good luck!
