The Neon has a very good engine for modifications and can blow the doors off a Honda or Acura when properly modified. There are publications and web sites to show you how to do the work. Hopefully you are mechanically inclined because this will save you big bucks on labor. Keeping the car or not keeping the car is a personal decision. You seem to like the car, and getting another just costs more money and then you will want to spend money on the new one too.

hmm my neon isn't weak and has plenty of power it even has 186,000 miles and runs strong as can be. Thats a great price for that car with only 41,000 miles it'll last you forever. My brother works as a dodge mechanic at a dealer for over 15 years and hardly has to do any work on the neons from 2000+ years because they're great cars. Good way to save money and fuel and have dependable transportation.

If it's a popular car, there is someone who's beefed one up. Consider this: The 2007 Pontiac Solstice also has a 2.0L and with a turbo, it will be cranking out 270hp! The base engine 2.0 still kicks out 170HP. Do some research and see whats out there. If YOU like the car and want to keep it..why not upgrade?

if you are limited on money right now then wait and save up to buy the car you want. A year later you maybe wondering how you are going to pay for your fast car or else you are going to see your suped up car on the end of a repo truck. If it gets you from point A to point B that should be good enough until you get some money set aside.

Every upgrade is a 100% waist of money - nobody will pay extra for the car, rather less, seriously!
Save a while and buy a car that's better in the condition it left the factory - without any weird changes.

I've heard that Neons are pretty fast because of their light weight. A car is a bad investment no matter how you look at it. The longer you can stay in one car the better. If modifying your car will make you stay in it longer, I would do that.

Dont waste your money. You're lucky that a 2000 neon is still running; these are disposable cars. Throw yours away and buy another.

That car is worth more as parts then it is whole. I'd say dump it and get a better car.
