You may or may not have an anxiety disorder known as trichotillomania. (compulsive hair pulling) it's usually ritualistic in nature (so you have a specific way of doing it that is satisfying to you) and usually is a way of relieving stress or anxiety. Typically people do it alone and in private.

If you think this describes you see a different psychologist because he or she may be able to better identify the disorder and help you redirect some of that stress reducing behavior into more positive channels.

My friend used to do that. It's trichotillomania. Do you chew the root? It generally starts with some sort of trauma, and becomes like an obsessive compulsive routine. You're addicted to the process. It's good that you're seeing a psychologist, but if he's not helping, you maybe needs something or someone different. You need to break the cycle of the routine before you bald yourself. You're doing something but your brain and hands are not occupied some of the time on loo and PC. perhaps when you start to daydream, which you may in both of these places, the habit is at its worst.

Sometimes when I have a headache I get my fiance to pull my hair for me. I really find that it releives the tension and helps my headache. It is just a long consistent pull that starts at your scalp and goes till the ends of your hair. Make sure there are no knots...ouch!

Don't worry, this is a self-limiting condition.
Sooner or later, you will run out of hair....
